Come Home to Your Body, Come Home to Yourself: Befriend Your Emotions

  • The Mind Body Therapy Collective 70 Park Street Montclair Township, NJ, 07042 United States (map)

“Your emotions make you human. Even the unpleasant ones have a purpose. Don’t lock them away; they’re your guideposts to growth.” – Unknown

Emotion is a vital energy that is meant to move through our bodies. This is evident in the word itself, E-motion. When we allow ourselves to acknowledge and feel our emotions, they can inform us about our needs and desires, and the actions that we need to take to care for ourselves.

Throughout life many of us have been told either directly or indirectly that certain emotions are not okay to feel. In response to these messages, we may, for example, hold back our tears or silence our anger. When this energy is suppressed, it remains lodged in our bodies. Instead of an energetic movement, it becomes a sensation such as a lump in your throat or a clenched jaw.

In this experiential workshop, we will explore your relationship to various emotions, identify where emotional energy is lodged in your body, and meet it with compassion, understanding, movement and listening touch to free it and your body.
